Viet Nam Halongtours Ltd.

Viet Nam Halongtours Ltd. and its subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to as “Viet Nam Halongtours”) are committed to acting as a responsible corporate citizen. Beyond full compliance with applicable laws, we focus on corporate responsibility in the following key areas:

This Supplier Code of Conduct defines the ethical standards, values, and operational principles that all suppliers must follow when providing services to or on behalf of Viet Nam Halongtours.

This Code forms an integral part of all supplier contracts. Suppliers must ensure that all personnel (whether employed directly or indirectly) comply with this Code and possess the necessary qualifications, training, and expertise.

 

1. Compliance with Laws & Anti-Corruption

1.1 Legal Compliance

Suppliers must comply with:

All applicable international, national, and local laws

Industry minimum standards

Any statutory requirements (whichever is more stringent)

1.2 Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption Policy

Suppliers shall:

Fully comply with all anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws

Refrain from offering, requesting, authorising, or accepting bribes

Avoid facilitation payments

Not provide gifts or hospitality intended to improperly influence decisions

Any suspicious or corrupt conduct must be reported immediately to Viet Nam Halongtours.

 

2. Human Rights & Labour Standards

2.1 Non-Discrimination & Fair Treatment

Suppliers must ensure:

No discrimination based on gender, age, religion, race, caste, nationality, disability, political views, sexual orientation, or union membership

No forced labour

Freedom of association and collective bargaining

Zero tolerance for harassment, intimidation, or abuse

Access to grievance and complaint procedures

Employees must be free to enter and terminate employment without penalty in accordance with their contracts.

2.2 Child Labour Policy

No employment of children under 15 years old (or higher local minimum age).

If local law permits 14 years under ILO Convention 138 exceptions, this applies.

Young workers (14–18 years) must have restricted working hours and protected conditions.

2.3 Safe & Healthy Workplace

Suppliers must:

Provide safe, hygienic working environments

Prevent workplace accidents and diseases

Provide compliant staff accommodation (if applicable)

Maintain fire alarms, extinguishers, and clear emergency exits

Conduct regular evacuation drills

2.4 Wages & Working Hours

Suppliers must ensure:

Wages meet or exceed legal minimums and industry standards

No illegal wage deductions

Compliance with legal working hours

Provision of annual leave, sick leave, and maternity rights without penalty

 

3. Prevention of Sexual Exploitation of Children

3.1 Zero Tolerance Policy

Suppliers must:

Prohibit child prostitution on their premises

Report suspicious behaviour to competent local authorities

3.2 Definition

A child is defined as any person under 18 years of age, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

 

4. Local Sourcing & Community Development

Suppliers are encouraged to:

Prioritise locally produced goods

Promote local guides, restaurants, markets, and craft centres

Avoid selling illegal historical or archaeological artefacts

Supporting local communities is essential to sustainable tourism development.

 

5. Sustainability & Environmental Responsibility

5.1 Environmental Protection

Suppliers must:

Minimise environmental impact

Reduce energy and water consumption

Limit harmful chemical use

Comply with waste management laws

Monitor wastewater and solid waste

Reduce emissions and pollution

Suppliers must comply with:

CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species)

ABTA Animal Welfare Minimum Requirements

5.2 Animal Welfare Standards

Suppliers must:

Acquire animals legally in compliance with CITES

Ensure humane treatment according to the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare

Avoid wildlife interactions that harm ecosystems

Minimise environmental disturbance

The Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare:

Freedom from hunger and thirst

Freedom from discomfort

Freedom from pain, injury, or disease

Freedom to express normal behaviour

Freedom from fear and distress

 

6. Monitoring & Enforcement

6.1 Principle of Trust

Viet Nam Halongtours trusts suppliers to uphold these standards and continuously improve.

6.2 Implementation & Communication

Suppliers must:

Communicate this Code internally

Involve employees and stakeholders

Promote adherence within their own supply chain

6.3 Audits & Self-Assessment

Suppliers agree to:

Complete self-assessment forms accurately

Allow inspections and audits when required

Cooperate with Viet Nam Halongtours or authorised representatives

6.4 Non-Compliance

In cases of breach (e.g., child labour, environmental violations), Viet Nam Halongtours reserves the right to:

Terminate contracts immediately

Pursue legal action

 

7. GDPR & Data Protection Compliance

In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (effective 25 May 2018), suppliers must:

Use customer data solely for booking and tour operations

Delete personal data after service completion

Maintain strict data security controls

Not subcontract data responsibilities without written approval

Indemnify Viet Nam Halongtours for any data breach or non-compliance

Suppliers must ensure full compliance with applicable IT and data protection laws.

 

8. Health & Safety Standards Post-Covid-19

Viet Nam Halongtours implements health and safety measures aligned with:

WHO recommendations

WTTC Safe Travel Protocols

National safety regulations

Suppliers must comply with minimum health and safety standards as outlined in the official addendum and on our website.

Health and safety standards are subject to change according to local government regulations.
